The orange orb of interlaced yarn had been barricaded in bed for (what seemed like) weeks with crippling anxiety about the future.

The four-post fortress was his Alamo against the new and  ever encroaching will of others to “grow up,” “weave his future,” and “become more than a twine teen.”

But I’m not a scarf, or hat, or ugly sweater…” The ball despaired as he frantically fought the feeling that every encouraging mantra while rolling up had been nothing more than a farce.
